3. Where do I go to learn more?
1. What is new with my e-mail?
Additional e-mail accounts (for DSL customers only)
We've increased the number of DSL e-mail accounts you have with your DSL service from 4 to 9. You now have 1 primary e-mail
account and 8 e-mail sub-accounts. Multiple e-mail accounts are perfect for individual accounts for family members and/or
roommates, separate accounts for personal and business use, or secondary accounts that you only use for online shopping and
subscriptions.
Extra mailbox storage
If you have DSL, we've increased the storage for your primary mailbox from 10Mb to 30Mb - so there's much less chance your
mailbox will fill up. Whether you have DSL or dial-up, you'll continue to have 10Mb of mailbox storage for each additional
mailbox.
New Spam fighting tools
In addition to the current Spam Detector, you now have one click blocking to block all messages from e-mail addresses or domains
you specify. You can choose to have the blocked messages automatically deleted, or sent to a special folder.
Improvements to your web-based e-mail - E-Mail & More
New text editing features (for your style, color and font), emoticons, and more - - your web-based e-mail (and away from home
access) has just gotten better.
E-mail notification
Now you'll know how many unread e-mail messages you have in your inbox and when new e-mail arrives.
A personal calendar
Including Task Lists that you can even access away from home through Verizon Central.
An enhanced address book
It holds up to 300 contacts and even has direct access to SuperPages for easy address look-ups.
E-mail filtering
This feature provides you with more control over your incoming messages. You can set up to 200 personalized filters that direct
incoming e-mail messages from addresses you specify - automatically to special folders. Plus, you also have the ability to be
notified of incoming e-mail from specific addresses at an alternate e-mail (or SMTP) address of your choice. For example, if
you're waiting for an important e-mail from a family member, you can activate their address to notify you at your work e-mail
address when the e-mail is received.
2. What happens when I access my e-mail for the first time?
Some Verizon Online customers have User IDs that can be difficult to remember such as vze12345 or res12345. Although we provided
the ability to create a personalized e-mail address allowing you to create an "alias" (like an assumed name or nickname such as
myname@verizon.net), you'll now be able to select your own easy-to-remember User Name - which will also be your e-mail address.
But don't worry, YOUR EXISTING VERIZON ONLINE USER ID AND E-MAIL ALIAS WILL CONTINUE TO WORK - AND YOU CAN EVEN CHOOSE TO USE
YOUR EXISTING USER ID OR ALIAS AS YOUR NEW USER NAME.
The first time you log in to one of the following: your Verizon Online e-mail, My Account tools or other Verizon Online
features, we'll walk you through a quick series of questions to handle the change. Once again, we've reserved your current user
id and alias (your e-mail address) just for you - if you would like to keep one of them for your primary account. Or you can
select a completely new user name (which will also be your e-mail address) - the choice is yours.
3. Where do I go to learn more?
Go to your Verizon Online Start Page (If you have DSL go to: http://dslstart.verizon.net, if you have Dial-up go to:
http://start.verizon.net) and click the E-Mail & More tab that's located in the main navigation on the upper left side of the
page.
