E-Mail Retention Policy
The following rules apply to the retention of e-mails in your Verizon Online e-mail account
([your user name]@verizon.net). We will:
- Retain messages in your mailbox for up to 30 calendar days. Messages in your mailbox
that are more than 30 calendar days old are automatically deleted.
- Facilitate elimination of "deleted messages". Messages deleted or moved to the
Netmail Trash folder will only be retained for 2 days after which time they will
automatically be deleted.
- Offer you a tool to control spam messages. Spam Detector identifies unsolicited messages
sent to you in bulk (also known as spam) and automatically deletes them. If you enable the
storage of messages in the Spam Detector folder, messages placed in this folder are retained
for a period of 7 calendar days before being automatically deleted.
E-mail Inactivity Policy
Mailboxes that are unused for 120 days or more will be closed. Seven (7) days prior to a mailbox being closed, we will notify
you via an e-mail sent to the Verizon.net e-mail address affected of our intent to close the mailbox. If you access your mailbox
during this seven day notice period, the mailbox will not be closed.
For the purposes of this policy, a mailbox will be considered "unused" if you: (i) do not access your mailbox to read your mail,
(ii) do not send a message from your mailbox, (iii) do not log-into Netmail, or (iv) do not set up a automatic forwarding of
your e-mail.
Once closed, your mailbox can be reopened at any time within ninety (90) days of being closed. E-mails in a closed e-mail box
will be subject to Verizon Online's E-mail Retention policy. After ninety (90) days, if no request has been made to reopen
the mailbox, the mailbox will be deleted.
During the period that a mailbox is closed (and before it is deleted), you will not lose any personalization (e.g., folders,
address book entries, preferences) you have made to your mailbox and your Verizon Online e-mail address and alias will not
change or be reassigned to anyone else. Once the mailbox is deleted, all personalization will be lost. To reopen a mailbox
you must be an active Verizon Online subscriber.
IMPORTANT: Upon deletion of an e-mail box, you will no longer have access to the e-mail account, e-mail messages, folders, or
address book information. You may, however, be able to create a new mailbox with your original e-mail address, depending on
whether the e-mail address is still available.
Limitations on Sending E-mail
The following limits apply with respect to the sending of e-mail from your verizon.net e-mail account.
These rules are in place in order to help fight spam (that is, unsolicited e-mail).
- You may send a single e-mail message to a maximum of 100 recipients in one mailing, not to exceed
500 recipients within a one hour period. If you include more than e-mail100 addressees in an e-mail,
the e-mail will NOT be delivered to ANY of the recipients. Please note: you will NOT receive a notice
from us if this limitation is triggered. Accordingly, it is up to you to make sure you do not exceed
these e-mail recipient limits.
- If you send e-mails to more than 500 recipients within a one hour period, your ability to send ANY
e-mail messages will be suspended for 24 hours. Please note: you will receive a notice from us if this
limitation is triggered.
