Why will my DSL service change from Verizon Online to Hawaiian Telcom?
On May 2, 2005, the sale of Verizon Hawaii to The Carlyle Group closed. The new name of the company will be Hawaiian Telcom.

Will my Verizon Online Internet (DSL or Dial) service be affected in any way?
After May 2, 2005 your DSL service package and price will stay the same. After a transition period, Hawaiian Telcom will become your ISP later in the year. You will receive information directly from Hawaiian Telcom over the coming months regarding your DSL service.

There are several important changes to your service that you should be aware of, however,
  • DSL Terms of Service: New Terms of Service will apply to your service for the time period beginning when Hawaiian Telcom begins offering service through the end of the transition period. You can view the new Terms of Service by visiting http://www2.verizon.net/policies/tos.asp and selecting Hawaii from the pull down menu. Your continued use of the Service will constitute your acceptance of these new service terms. If you do not agree to them, you should terminate your Service.
  • DSL Customer Support: You should continue, as you have in the past, to contact Verizon Online for customer service and technical support services until notified by Verizon Online Hawaiian Telcom.
Regarding MSN SM Premium Service:
Once the sale closes, MSN Premium will no longer be part of the DSL offering in Hawaii. To continue receiving the valuable features and information provided by MSN, existing subscribers must simply register for the MSN special 6 months free offer (a $60 value).

This special offer is available to DSL subscribers in Hawaii only, and the opportunity to redeem this offer will expire May 15, 2005. By registering for continued service, you will be assured continued access to all MSN® Hotmail email accounts, MSN Messenger, MacAfee Anti-Virus, MSN Parental Controls, MSN Encarta® Premium and more. Should you decide not to redeem this limited-time offer, your MSN Premium account will be deactivated May 31, 2005. Once deactivated, you will maintain access to your Hotmail and MSN Messenger accounts. However, you will no longer enjoy the benefits of increased email storage, MacAfee Anti-Virus, MSN Parental Controls, and additional premium services included in MSN Premium.
